FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL DESIGNER

Anabel Hering

Bethesda native Anabel Hering brings an athlete's discipline and a collaborator's heart to interior design. After realizing her childhood dream of playing professional soccer in Germany and the United States, followed by a successful tenure as a D1 collegiate coach, Anabel discovered her true calling lay in creating beautiful, functional spaces.

Her path to design wound through residential real estate, where she found herself captivated by each home's potential. What started as helping clients envision possibilities evolved into a deeper passion for crafting spaces that truly reflect the people who inhabit them. Self-taught and driven by the same competitive excellence that defined her athletic career, Anabel founded Black Salt Interiors in 2019.
Today, she channels her unique background into every project - bringing the strategic thinking of a coach, the persistence of an athlete, and the intuitive understanding that homes should be both beautiful and livable. Anabel approaches each design as a collaboration, recognizing that every client has their own blueprint for what makes a house feel like home. Her mission is clear: create therapeutic spaces that blend timeless luxury with personal meaning.
As the daughter of Cuban immigrants, Anabel inherited a foundation built on pride, honesty, and relentless drive. These values, combined with her competitive nature and creative vision, inform her approach to design - one that's both disciplined and deeply personal.
When not transforming spaces, Anabel can be found exploring new restaurants, planning her next travel adventure, or at home in Kensington with her husband, two children, and their French Bulldog.
